The Monetary Fund Meeting is an annual event where the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) meet to discuss global issues regarding finance, economic development and poverty reduction.

It is one of the most important economic conferences in the world. Two out of three times, this major event takes place in Washington D.C. Every third year, a different member country is chosen to host this important global event, and this year in 2018, the Monetary Fund Meeting will take place on the island of Bali in Indonesia.

It Is a Big Thing!

The meeting between IMF and WBG will be hosted in Bali’s most sophisticated resort town, Nusa Dua from 12 to 14 October 2018.

It is a big thing, and preparations have already started with the expanding of the aeroplane apron and the building of an underpass that connects Bali’s international Airport to Nusa Dua. Garuda Wisnu Kencana, where the reception for meeting participants will be held, is getting ready as well.

The number of attendees is estimated at 15,000 to 20,000, comprising of government officials, business people, bankers, academics, parliamentarians, civil society organisations and journalists from 189 countries worldwide and flight takeoffs and landings are estimated to increase from 28 to 35 per hour.

Nusa Dua is a great place for this event as it is close to the Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, and the town is home to an abundance of beachfront 5-star resorts with meeting halls with state-of-the-art information technology, audiovisual equipment and security.

Nothing new has to be built, Nusa Dua can accommodate this event perfectly well. Attendees even get to enjoy leisure packages in their free time.

It Is on and Online

The meetings are not only held to discuss financial and economic issues and progress of global concern, but they are also meant to share and explain the activities, challenges and achievements of the World Bank Group and IMF to the public.

Live streams, online conversations and social media platforms are available during the event.

Benefits for Bali & Indonesia?

The IMF meeting may be the biggest event that Indonesia will ever host. The main benefits for Bali and Indonesia are:

Boost of Economy

Money circulation during the International Monetary Fund Meeting is estimated to reach Rp. 4 trillion, giving the local economy an enormous boost.

Showcasing & Tourism Growth

At the same time, this event is perfect to showcase the beauty of Indonesia and its enchanting culture as well as its social and economic achievements. It will boost tourism and it puts Indonesia in the spotlight of a global stage, expanding the country’s influence worldwide.

Bali Is Ready!

Indonesia will be the third south-east Asian country to host this event after Thailand and Singapore. Bali’s Nusa Dua makes the perfect choice! It has got everything needed to make this annual event most luxurious, effective and memorable.
